Caring Capacity places the audience in charge of the wellbeing of 'Care Objects', virtual objects with a variety of needs. The piece subverts common game mechanics of destruction, emphasizing the audience's interactions of maintenance. Through interaction, the player enables the object's wellbeing and growth, eventually allowing them to multiply. Each object produces its own generative sound, which together are intended to be both meditative and overwhelming. This project is part of a larger body of work exploring connection and care in the context of power, production and lifespan.
